Colias eurytheme

Common name: Orange sulfur

Appearance:

  • Variable color of orange or yellow
  • Visible yellow veins to make a rippled effect in wings, dark spot on males
  • Females are yellow/white with an irregular black border and light spots
  • 2-3 inch wingspan

Found: In open fields, clover fields, mowed areas, meadows, road edges

Major foodplant: Alfalfa and other Fabaceae

Other: One of the most common and widespread in America

Adults are active in: April - October
